As my first official blog post (yay!), I'd like to update you on what we've been working on over the holiday break.
In the beginning of December, we hosted a dinner featuring founders of the Congo Rescue Mission Marcel Mubikayi and Larry Sheurich.
Marcel, who has an amazing story, emmigrated from the Congo and began the Congo Rescue Mission with his friend and fellow soccer coach Larry. The organization uses soccer to provide kids in the Congo with life skills, training and hope for a better future. Having the opportunity to meet people like Marcel is just one of the many reasons I love being a part of Play It Forward.
At the end of the evening, we donated 88 jerseys (including 68 brand new professional jerseys), 7 pairs of shorts, 25 pairs of socks, 19 windbreakers and 25 pairs of sweatpants. Thank you to Frank Soto and all those from Issaquah Soccer Club who donated to the Congo Rescue Mission.

Today Anna, Maddie, Alec, and Ben organized uniforms to be sent to the Congo. The uniforms were from local schools and will be greatly appreciated where they are received.
